Mother Mary

For my mother, with all my love.

I’ve been working on this one for a while. It had to be just right. This one is for my mom.

My mother and I were great friends. Pals for life. We could talk for hours and talk about anything and everything. She was my confidant and my shoulder to cry on. She was my biggest fan! My mother was a no-nonsense, kind-hearted, and loving person who gave everything for her family (most times at great personal sacrifice). Like many, her confidence was an illusion, but her love was not. That woman shined bright and fierce for 58 years. Whether it was running her self-made business, or pleasing her you’ll-never-be-quite-good-enough-for-us parents, she worked hard her whole life. At the end of her time on this Earth, my mother finally caught a brief glimpse of her true purpose. She saw herself for who she truly was…and I was there to see it with her. That recognition made my life, and hers, complete. My mom passed away in 2003. I was holding her hand when her spirit left, and it was the most beautiful and heartbreaking moment of my life. She is missed.

Mary cannot be described by notes. It has to be experienced to be enjoyed. There are many pieces to this intricate puzzle but all are painstakingly and lovingly put into place to form a bigger picture. Larger than life, yet modest in its subtlety, Mary is a complex yet grounded blend of florals and spices that perfectly compliment its namesake.
