Payment Options Clarified

August 2nd, 2010

Good Judy receives a lot of emails asking about payment options. We accept Paypal (major credit cards, debit cards, echecks), personal checks, and money orders. Paypal payments are immediate. Checks and money order payments must clear before orders are processed.

Do I need a Paypal account? Technically, no. Having a Paypal account is more convenient, but not necessary to purchase Good Judy. Credit card payments are still accepted without you having to sign up for a Paypal account.

How? Unfortunately, Paypal does not make it readily apparent, but there is an option that is safe, easy, and secure* that allows you to make a “one-off” credit card payment.

Yay! How do I do this? Add items to your Good Judy shopping cart. Click shopping cart link, choose shipping method, then choose the credit card payment option. Then:

1. Click the “continue” button
2. Verify your order then click the “confirm order” button. This will take you to Paypal to complete your purchase.
3. On the Paypal log-in page you will see a small “continue” link to the left of the Paypal log-in box (look for text that reads “Don’t have a PayPal account? Use your credit card or bank account where available”).
4. Click the “continue” link and follow the instructions to complete your Good Judy purchase.
5. Do NOT create a password at any time! As long as you do not create a password, you will not be signed up for a Paypal account!

Hope that helps! Please contact info@goodjudy.com if you have any questions.

Product Reviews

July 22nd, 2010

Good Judy loves product reviews! Good, not so good, or indifferent, product reviews are a great way for us to gauge the quality, relativity, and demand of our products.

For consumers, product reviews are a great way to get information about products and the way they work. Basically, most reviews are the result of answering a single question: does the product do what it’s supposed to. Yet, when it comes to bath and body products, reviews can be more challenging. Why? For a few reasons, actually. But the number one reason may be skin chemistry.

Skin chemistry is the result of multiple factors: genetics, soaps, lotions, detergents, environment, diet, and health…to name a few. Everybody’s skin chemistry is different, and skin chemistry changes. As we say, our products are complete, but there’s always one thing missing…your skin. That’s one thing to keep in mind when reading or writing reviews, or basing your decision to purchase/try a product solely on someone else’s review.

Remember, there is no right or wrong way to write a product review, just more effective and less effective. Write from the heart and speak your truth. Write objectively (an important point) and informatively. The more detailed the better, but short and sweet can be just as effective as long as basic important points are touched on.

What are the important points? Depends on the product, but touching on product use (smell, if it works, how long it lasts) are the basics. With perfumes, you can touch on the basics of how it smells in the bottle, upon first application, after dry down, and length of wear. Other points to touch upon can be packaging and presentation, how the product makes you feel, emotions, comparisons, etc.

Good Judy favors quality over quantity, but when it comes to reviews, quantity matters. There is a huge difference between a few reviews and a few hundred reviews. When searching out reviews, take the number of reviews into consideration. A low number doesn’t necessarily mean only a few people have tried it. It may simply mean only a few people have reviewed it. Also, when there are only a few reviews, ask yourself this question: are there enough reviews to warrant not purchasing or purchasing the product? A few bad/good reviews does not a bad/good product make.

Another factor to take into consideration is who wrote the review(s). Are they being objective? As a whole, are their reviews mostly negative or positive? Are they giving the product a fair shake, enough time, enough individual attention? Have they used the product more than once (remember, skin chemistry changes)?

When it comes down to it, good, not so good, or indifferent, reviews are guidelines based on another persons experiences. For Good Judy, they are a welcomed necessity, and are important and influential in maintaining high standards and quality products. For the consumer, they are a guide for making informed decisions…just make sure they do not supersede your own experience with the products.

You may read, write, and discuss reviews at the Good Judy forum (DailySlather.com) and feel free to contact us at info @ goodjudy . com (no spaces) should you have any questions!

Love and light.

The Joys of Adopting Perfumes

April 7th, 2010

I receive a lot of questions on proper perfume handling. First, let me say that there are a lot of different thoughts on the subject…especially for those who are, let’s say, a bit more protective of the precious. But, there are some basics that will allow for an all around better perfume owning experience.

Good Judy perfumes are made to order. What does that mean? It means that most of the time, the perfume you order is blended only after you order it. There are some that are pre-blended before being released (like forum only blends and known sellers), but for the most part, your smell good judy is brand spankin’ new.

So, this first suggestion is a toughie for the newly expected parents: when you get your package of precious oils, allow the perfumes to settle in for a couple of days. Sure, you can open and sniff, just remember that the components have not had time to properly mingle…plus they’ve just been manhandled by the good ol’ USPS. That’s enough to frazzle the best of nerves. Allow the perfume to adjust. If you try it on right away it may not have the same outcome.

Next, store the oils in a cool, dry, dark (as possible) place. Heat, moisture, and natural light will alter fragrance composition in the long run. Speaking of the long run, perfumes will age. Some gracefully, some not so much. Most top notes disappear with age. Most bottom notes ripen like a fine wine.

To shake or not to shake? Good question. And again, not a yes or no answer. Some oils are more resistant to shaking. Some are not. This is what I suggest: pick up the bottle and hold it with your index finger on the top and thumb on the bottom. Repeatedly invert bottle at a steady pace for a ten count. Another way is to roll the bottle between the palms of your hands (a good way to warm up the oils in the winter too). I find the inversion technique is best before each application.

How and where to apply are as varied as the stars in the sky. Some dab. Some slather. Some rub (which makes me cringe). I am a couple drops on the top of the wrist (stays longer than the underside of the wrists for me), then dab some of that behind the ears, neck and inside elbow person.

Those are a few tips from my perspective. Feel free to share some of your own!

April 2nd, 2010

The revamped Glitz Sugar Scrubs are here! Good Judy creates these all-in-one exfoliating, cleansing, moisturizing sugar scrubs from scratch, using the finest vegan and organic ingredients.

But what do they do? Why should you use them? Not sure what to do with them?

Here’s some helpful information and a few tips:

  • Glitz Sugar Scrubs are a natural way to have healthy, incredibly soft skin without using harsh synthetic chemicals.
  • Sugar is a gentle exfoliator that removes dead and dirty skin, leaving your skin healthy and glowing. It is less abrasive than salt, and may be used with all skin types. Sugar also contains natural essential fatty acids that nourish the skin.
  • Our all-in-one formula contains ingredients to gently cleanse and moisturize as well. No need for extra products. No need to clean your face before you exfoliate. No need to moisturize after. We cover all three with one great product.
  • To use, simply rub product in a circular motion on the parts of your body you wish to exfoliate. Glitz Sugar Scrubs are gentle enough for face, neck, back, legs, tummy, and all reachable body parts. Never use Sugar Scrubs near the groin area.
  • Sugar Scrubs can be used 2 to 3 times per week…more on rough hands, elbows, and heels.
  • Great for gardeners and mechanics and children too! Glitz Sugar Scrubs contain gentle organic castile soap. Along with the scrubbing action of the sugar, the organic soap will have your hands clean and soft in no time!

Best Practices: Helpful tips on storage and shelf life

Glitz Sugar Scrubs contain no synthetic preservatives. Shelf life is up to 2 months with proper handling and storage.

  • Keep lid tightly closed
  • Store in a cool, dry place. Humidity will decrease shelf life.
  • Do not allow water to get into the jar.
  • It is best to use a clean utensil to scoop out product rather than using your fingers.
  • Following the above tips will ensure you get the longest use out of your Glitz Sugar Scrubs. If you have any other questions or, feel free to ask.
